Our children love them: Swedish meatballs (Swedish pronunciation is "Schöttbüllar") with cream sauce, cranberries, vegetables such as peas and mashed potatoes or noodles.
Since we don't particularly like rich cream sauces, we have a more digestible alternative that will also appeal to non-vegans .

Ingredients:
- 240 ml vegetable broth
- 1 can of coconut milk or 400 ml of other plant-based milk/cream
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp cornstarch, potato starch or roux to thicken the sauce
Preparation:
- Put all the ingredients – except for the starch – into a pot.
- Take a small amount of the still-cold sauce and mix it with the cornstarch in a separate cup until no lumps remain. Stir this mixture into the larger quantity.
- Bring everything to a boil
- Alternative roux:
If you don't have cornstarch, you can also melt a tablespoon of butter or margarine in a saucepan and add a tablespoon of flour. Mix this with a little sauce in a cup, then gradually stir it into the sauce and bring to a boil.
Ready! Enjoy your meal.
