5 stroller-friendly hikes with mountain views in Ostallgäu

5 Kinderwagenfreundliche Wanderungen mit Bergblick im Ostallgäu
Our favorite tours in the Ostallgäu region

These 5 hikes in the Ostallgäu region are perfect for strollers or balance bikes and include mountain views of the Allgäu Alps.

Leo was a real stroller baby and could sleep really well and for long periods in it. Taking a stroller up into the mountains is often difficult and cumbersome, so we often chose hikes that rewarded us with a wonderful mountain panorama. We still love these trails today, because our two boys can really zoom around on their bikes and balance bikes, as the paths are flat and not steep. These trails are simply part of the landscape in the Ostallgäu region, as the rolling hills of the Alpine foothills often offer us expansive views. Furthermore, these outlying hills or plateaus are always particularly sunny and therefore especially appealing even on winter days.

We have compiled our 5 most beautiful tours for you, which you can easily manage with kids and also with a stroller.

1. Kleeblattweg Lengenwang

Road typing allgäu otallgäu hiking children stroller cloverleaf path lengenwang.

This route is truly one of our most popular; Denner Weg has so much to offer. There's a beautiful section through the forest, along a hillside across the fields, and you cross a stream several times.

And on top of all that, you'll find many details such as a lookout tower in the forest, a public barbecue area by the stream, a playground back in the village, and various adventure stations for children.

The Cloverleaf Trail is actually a network of four trails through the municipality of Lengenwang, all starting at the train station. You can find more information here .

Starting point : Lengenwang train station, there are four circular routes.
Length : there are two shorter routes of approximately 4 km and two longer routes of approximately 8 km.
Coordinates: 47.697557, 10.601350
Places to stop for refreshments : In the village of Lengenwang

2nd Schwaltenweiher Round

The Schwaltenweiher is a small lake near Seeg in the Ostallgäu region. In winter, it's often quite clear and you can walk across it, while in summer it's a very popular swimming lake for families. The loop around the lake is incredibly varied, leading along the shoreline and through the forest, across slightly marshy meadows, and past traditional Allgäu farms where animals live.

Starting point : Schwaltenweiher parking lot
Length : Approx. 4 km
Coordinates : 47.647217, 10.579223
Places to stop for refreshments : There's a delicious alpine-style restaurant at the parking lot.

3. Lech riverbank trail from Lechbruck or the dam in Prem

The Lech River in the Allgäu region always reminds us of our Canadian adventure: the color of the water, the vegetation, the often difficult-to-access river, and the view of the mountain range. It exerts a magical pull on us.

There are several hiking options along the Lech River; our suggestion starts in Prem at weir 2 and follows the riverbank directly to Lechbruck, returning on the other side. It's very idyllic in every season.

Starting point : Saudamm Preem, weir 2
Length : Approx. 6 km
Coordinates: 47.675969, 10.790517
Places to stop for refreshments: In Prem and Lechbruck

4. Alpe Beichelstein

The Alpe Beichelstein is no longer a secret, because the outlying alpine pasture has one of the most beautiful views of the Ostallgäu mountain range.

There are several ways to hike here or from here. From the coordinates... you can hike up the mountain in about half an hour, reaching the alpine pasture via a high plateau. Alternatively, you can drive up to the pasture (parking is limited) and enjoy a pleasant loop hike.

5. Beer and Cheese Trail

This is a truly Allgäu hike with many highlights and information panels about Allgäu cheese and Allgäu beer. The hiking route between the Lehern dairy near Hopferau and the Maria-Hilfer brewery in Speiden near Eisenberg is really something special and well worth experiencing.

Starting point : Lehrern dairy, Hopferau

Places to eat : Plenty

Note & Info:

We love our home region, the Allgäu, and know dozens of beautiful tours, routes, paths, and campsites. We're happy to share our love for the Allgäu and offer tips on particularly beautiful spots and great places to discover. However, last year we experienced firsthand how crowded the popular hotspots became, which wasn't so enjoyable for the locals. Therefore, we want to provide you with some guidance through our articles and recommendations, while still leaving room for your own explorations. On behalf of the residents, we kindly ask you to be considerate, respect parking spaces, take your trash with you, and, if necessary, simply drive a little further. Thank you!

Much joy

Franzi, Marius, Leo, Casper & Lotta
