1. Paint Your Style: Paint ceramics as you wish
Two women, one idea: Conny (from Berlin) and Christine (from Allgäu) want to awaken creativity in all visitors, young and old, in their beautiful shop in Leutkirch. Even in those who don't believe in their own artistic side.
Because Paint Your Style is not about skill, but about fun. Visitors choose an object from the huge selection of ceramic blanks, receive a detailed introduction to colors, techniques and tools... and just get started!
There is no judging or condemnation here, everyone can paint cups, vases or unicorns as they please and have a nice chat and/or a drink at the same time.
And all of this in the beautiful atmosphere of Paint Your Style. Here you can and should spend a few hours relaxing and just having fun. There are lots of tools such as stamps, adhesive tape, brushes of all sizes and you don't need any previous knowledge. We were here for the first time too and slowly got to grips with it. We will definitely be back!

2. Well protected in the German Hat Museum
The whole family will get their money's worth at the German Hat Museum in Lindenberg. On four floors, you can stroll through 300 years of hat history and try things out, discover things and be amazed. There are endless hats to see and you can even try them on in the hat salon. The exhibition answers many exciting questions such as: What were and are hats made of? Who designs the pieces of jewelry? And are you strong enough to work on the hat press?
The hands-on corner is great for children: Here you can try out the activities you learn as a hatter, among other things. Painting hats, braiding them or making stars (even with instructions) and filing patterns into a block of wood. The children found the magic corner in the 4th floor particularly cool. They turned themselves into little magicians and magicians and performed a magic trick. A hat trick, of course! We had so much fun in the hat museum that we completely lost track of time and the lights went out.

3. Laugh your head off at the Wangen Puppet Theatre
The Wangen Puppet Theater is a real institution in our town. And it has been around for 24 years! The puppeteer "Max Buntschuh" has had a puppetry license for 37 years and has been conjuring the sweetest sounds out of children's mouths ever since: there is gurgling and laughter, giggling and screaming... watching and listening to children at a performance is so much fun as a parent!
We have been fans of his programs for a long time and are all the more pleased that the Wangen Puppet Theater has had a permanent venue again since September 2023. Namely in the train station, platform 1.
As an interactive one-man show, the puppeteer takes his audience on a funny, exciting and sometimes unbelievable adventure with the help of Kasper, the grandmother and of course the evil wizard.
The performance times are always Tuesday to Saturday, 3 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Reservations by phone or email are essential. The performances are not suitable for children under three years of age. The current schedule can always be heard on the answering machine.

4. Excavator party in the salt cave Lea Vitalhaus
Every Saturday at 10 a.m. and every Tuesday afternoon, the children's hour takes place in the salt cave of the Lea Vitalhaus in Wangen. For 45 minutes, the children can play, dig, shovel, dredge and make friends in the more than 20 tons of salt - while the parents make themselves comfortable on the loungers in the cave.
Quiet music, dim lighting and a room temperature of 23 degrees create a relaxed atmosphere. But what does a visit to the salt cave bring other than relaxation? The minerals and trace elements in the salt are absorbed through the skin and respiratory tract with each visit and help with coughing when you have a cold, for example. Overall, you immediately feel more vital. Make sure you call in advance and bring white socks and an appetite. There is cake in the Vital Café afterwards. If you like to buy decorations and books, you are in good hands here too.
Tip : There is certainly a salt cave near you

5. CenterParcs indoor playground: fun for all ages
Of course, we have known for a long time that there is Center Parcs Allgäu in Leutkirch, after all we live just a stone's throw away. But the fact that as a day guest you can use not only the fantastic Aqua Mundo water park but also all the playgrounds - both indoor and outdoor - I only found out later that I can use it for free.
So on the last rainy day we tried out the Baluba play world. And what can I say, the children loved it! And even I, who doesn't really like indoor playgrounds, was won over here. The indoor play world is designed like a large jungle playground: between huge palm trees and other plants there are wooden climbing towers with tunnels, trampolines, slides and integrated ladders.
For smaller children there are ball pools, large Lego bricks and smaller climbing elements. There are seats for parents and a café offers snacks and drinks for everyone. The destination for the next rainy afternoon is secured!
