To the tips in Ostallgäu, Westallgäu and Unterallgäu
1. Walk through a cow’s stomach in the Allgäu Mountain Farmers’ Museum
Our daughter calls it the “cow museum,” but the Allgäu Mountain Farmers’ Museum in Diepolz near Immenstadt is much more than that!
Not far from Immenstadt and the large Alpsee is the beautiful open-air museum. In the middle of the mountains, it takes visitors of all ages into the world of mountain farmers - both then and now.
Even though the sun is always welcome, you can spend a day here without missing it. In addition to ancient huts and farms that give an insight into the life of mountain farmers, there are special exhibitions, a play hay barn and a walk-in cow stomach where adults can also learn a lot. Watching, participating and learning are the order of the day everywhere. When the weather is nice, the children let off steam on the adventure or forest playground or watch chickens, sheep and other animals.
If you get hungry, stop off at the historic Höfle-Alpe and enjoy the view of the Allgäu Alps.

Little water lovers and big relaxation seekers will get their money's worth here. While the little ones splash around in the children's pool or whizz down the giant slide, the adults can relax in the whirlpool or swim a few laps. And the best part? The large windows offer a great view of the mountains - almost as if you were outside. So pack your swimming trunks and bikini and off you go!

Bad weather tip for Kempten
3. Boooooring! Not in the Kempten Museum
Boring museums can be found elsewhere! Anyone who visits the Kempten Museum can look forward to many hands-on and hands-on stations. The Zumstein mice are on the move throughout the exhibition and make the history of Kempten come alive and tangible for children. Do you want more? The museum regularly offers great workshops for children and young people.
Make your own soap or cook a herbal soup, learn how to make butter yourself or think up funny pranks together. You can get really creative by dyeing T-shirts, making paper or making beeswax cloths. The next rainy day can come!

4. Cafe Sissi: A dream in pink
At the Sissi Cafe in Kempten, not only the decorations, the carpet and the photo spot are pink, but also the cream on the chocolate and even some of the cakes come in all shades of pink. The selection of cakes and sweets is huge: from tarts to cakes and muffins to cake pops, there is everything that sweet tooths of all ages could desire.
When we went to the cute café for the first time, my daughter couldn't stop being amazed. Her exact words were: "Mom, this is my favorite café!" Because there is not only a lot to eat here, but also a lot to look at. In addition to the cake shop, you can also buy lots of cute decorations and gifts here. When it rains, this is the best place in town to watch the raindrops on the window with a hot chocolate in your hand.

5. On the trail of mystical legends: Sturmannshöhle Obermaiselstein
The weather outside doesn't matter in the cave, because it's always cold, dark and mysterious there. That's why a visit is wonderful even in rainy weather and the temperature difference isn't that great. The Sturmannshöhle in Obermaistelstein is the only accessible fissure cave in the Allgäu and takes cave explorers of all ages into a fairytale world of Middle Earth... er... underground.
A narrow wooden staircase leads up to the cave entrance and then a narrow cave path leads a whopping 300 meters underground. There is even a cave stream bubbling down there and if you're lucky you might spot the odd bat. Heard enough? Then it's time for an adventure!
